D battery leakage
D batteries may leak corrosive material if used
incorrectly.
Pay attention to the polarity symbols (+ and -) on the battery tray.
Ensure that each battery is installed correctly.
Do not mix batteries of different types.
Do not mix new batteries with used batteries.
Remove D batteries before storing the Song Meter SM5BAT for
long periods of time.

Always check that your batteries are installed correctly, even if the Song Meter SM5BAT powers on. It is possible for the recorder to briefly power if one D battery is installed in the wrong orientation.
