Quickly Update Firmware on Boot - SM5

You can update the SM5's firmware directly from power-on using an SD card. This is a fast way to update a large fleet of recorders using a single SD card.

1. Reformat an SD card.
2. Download the latest SM5 firmware update from the Wildlife Acoustics website, and save the file to the reformatted SD card.
   This procedure only works if the card contains a single firmware update file.
3. Insert the SD card with the firmware file into SD slot 1.
4. While pressing and holding Up , turn the SM5 on.
5. After the SD 1 LED flashes green, release the Up button.
   The screen should display Upgrading, then the SM5 should display its main status screen after several seconds.
6. Turn off the recorder, wait for the screen to shut off, and remove the SD card.
7. Repeat steps 3 through 6 for any other SM5 or SM5BAT recorders you want to update.
