Power the SM5 with the Wildlife Acoustics Power Kit - SM5 - Power Kit

The Wildlife Acoustics Power Kit is a combined rechargeable battery pack and solar panel that can power the SM5.

1. Remove all internal batteries from the SM5.
   The SM5 does not support using internal batteries and external power simultaneously.
2. Thread the barrel end of the Song Meter power cable through one of the loops on the back of the Power Kit, and, optionally, use a cable tie to secure it.
   This arrangement provides strain relief, preventing the cable from being pulled free.
   
   
3. Plug the barrel end of the cable into the Out 6V port on the Power Kit, and plug the 5-pin end into the Ext Power port on the SM5.
   The 6 V output provides the most efficient power for the SM5.
4. Power on the SM5.
5. Required: Set the SM5's voltage cutoff behavior.
   • Using the built-in display, go to Settings > Battery type > WA Power Kit.
   • Using the Configurator app, pair with the recorder and go to Configure > Battery Type > WA Power Kit.
   Setting the Battery type correctly prevents the SM5 from shutting itself down prematurely when using the Power Kit.
