If you encounter an issue with the Song Meter Configurator app, Wildlife Acoustics Support may request a debug log to help diagnose the problem.

About this task

The Song Meter Configurator app can generate files containing information that can help our developers diagnose bugs and other issues with the Song Meter Configurator application. Note that these files are distinct from the diagnostic files generated by a Song Meter recorder, which are useful for diagnosing hardware issues.

Procedure

  1. Contact Wildlife Acoustics Support and describe the issue.
Debug logs are only helpful once we understand the issue from your perspective as the user.
  2. If a support representative requests a debug log, open the Song Meter Configurator app.
  3. Generate debug logs using a menu item or a touch gesture:
    • Go to Help and Info > Create app debug log for WA Support.
    • If you cannot open Help and Info, use two fingers to touch and hold the screen for three seconds.
On iOS or iPadOS devices that have Apple Mail configured, the app will generate an email message addressed to Wildlife Acoustics Support with the debug log as an attachment. If Apple Mail is not configured, the iOS share panel will let you export the debug log to another app on your device.
  4. On Android devices, choose how to export the debug log:
    • Choose Email to generate an email message to Wildlife Acoustics Support using the Gmail app.
    • Choose Share to use the Android share interface to send the debug log to another app on your device.
