The SM5 can produce a text file with system information that can help Wildlife Acoustics Support diagnose some types of issues with the recorder.
About this task
A diagnostics file can be helpful in diagnosing some types of hardware or firmware issues or issues stemming from unintended settings. This type of file includes the following types of information, among others:
- Recorder serial number
- Current firmware version
- Current schedule and settings, including the saved location and time zone
- Indicators of recording and SD card status and instances of possible errors
- Logs of various system events over time
A diagnostics file out of context is not enough to determine whether anything is wrong with the recorder. If you send a diagnostics file to Wildlife Acoustics Support, please also provide a description of any unusual behavior or symptoms you have experienced.
