You can re-format an SD card using the SM5 itself. Formatting erases a card's contents, resets its storage organization, and clears many common error states.

Procedure

  1. Use a computer to copy any important files from the SD card to another storage drive.
    Formatting the card will erase all of the SD card's contents.
  2. Insert the card into either SD slot on the SM5.
  3. Turn on the SM5 and press Enter to exit the status screen.
  4. Go to Utilities, select Format SD card 1 or Format SD card 2, and confirm your choice.
    The screen will display a progress message, then a completion message.
