These instructions walk through each component of a simple schedule to describe how the schedule system works.

Procedure

  1. Set the SM5's Latitude, Longitude to your approximate deployment location, and set Time zone, Time, and Date to match your local time zone convention.
In order to estimate when sunset and sunrise will occur each day, the location, time zone, and clock settings must all be in agreement.
  2. If the current schedule contains multiple blocks, remove blocks until there is only one remaining.

Edit the parameters for Block 1.

  1. Set Start time to set-0:30:
    1. Select Start time.
    2. Set Time type to sunset.
This option allows you to start the schedule block at a fixed offset before or after sunset each day.
    3. Set Sign to -.
A negative offset means the schedule block will start before sunset.
    4. Set Offset to 0:30.
The schedule block will now start 30 minutes before sunset each day.
  2. Set End time to rise+0:30:
    1. Select .
    2. Set Time type to sunrise.
This option allows you to end the schedule block at a fixed offset before or after sunrise each day.
    3. Set Sign to +.
A positive offset means the schedule block will end after sunrise.
    4. Set Offset to 0:30.
The schedule block will now end 30 minutes after sunrise each day.
  3. Set Duty cycle to always on.
always on means the schedule block runs without pausing from the start time to the end time.
Using a cycle would allow you to alternate between recording and sleeping in fixed intervals each night. This example does not use a cycle.
  4. Set Date range to always on.
Using a range would limit this schedule block to a certain range on the calendar. It would also allow you to enable a day duty cycle to alternate the schedule block on and off in regular intervals of one or more days.

The resulting schedule should consist of the following single block:
