Kaleidoscope Frequently Asked Questions

Core Product
Kaleidoscope
Accessory

Depending on how much of your computer's RAM Kaleidoscope has access to, it may not be able to display an entire recording as a single spectrogram. In this instance, Kaleidoscope will display the recording in separate segments.

If Kaleidoscope is showing you a segmented view, the Kaleidoscope viewer menu bar will indicate which segment you are viewing, e.g. "(1/8)".

Solution: Navigate Between Segments

Select the <T and T> buttons to navigate between segments of your file.

Solution: Increase Max Cache Size

  1. From the Kaleidoscope Viewer window, go to File > FFT Settings.
  2. Increase the Max Cache Size setting.
Increasing Max Cache Size allows Kaleidoscope to use more of your computer's RAM, allowing it to display longer segments of audio as continuous spectrograms.
Note: Increasing Max Cache Size may negatively impact your computer's performance, including the performance of applications other than Kaleidoscope.
