Echo Meter Touch modules with Micro-USB plugs were discontinued in 2022, but they are still compatible with many recent phones and tablets.
Procedure
- Check whether your phone or tablet runs iOS/iPadOS, Amazon Fire OS, or Android.
-
Determine whether your iOS or iPadOS device has a Lightning port or a USB-C
port by looking at its charging cable.
See Types of Data Ports Found on Phones and Tablets for additional help identifying Lightning and USB-C ports.- If your device has a Lightning port, it is not compatible with Micro-USB EMT modules.
- If your device has a USB-C port, it is compatible with your Micro-USB EMT module, but you need an appropriate adapter, and your module needs a firmware update. Go to Step 3.
-
Update your EMT module's firmware and purchase a compatible adapter to use it
with your USB-C iOS/iPadOS device.
- Update the Firmware on USB Modules to Add iOS Compatibility.
- Purchase a Micro-USB female to USB-C male adapter that supports USB on-the-go (OTG). See Adapters for Echo Meter Touch Modules for additional details.
You can now use your EMT module with your iOS/iPadOS device. -
Check if your Fire OS device is on our list of known compatible
devices.
- If your Fire OS device is not on the list, it is not compatible with any EMT module.
- If your Fire OS device is on the list, it is compatible with new EMT modules, but it requires a Micro-USB female to USB-C male adapter that supports USB on-the-go (OTG). See Adapters for Echo Meter Touch Modules for additional details.
- Check to see if your Android device is on our list of known compatible devices.
-
Check if your Android device meets the general requirements for Android compatibility.
- If your Android device meets all requirements, it may be compatible, but we cannot guarantee compatibility with devices we have not tested. If you still want to try using an EMT with your device, go to Step 7.
- If your Android device fails to meet any requirement, it is not compatible with any EMT modules
-
Check which data port your Android device has by looking at its charging
cable.
- If your device has a Micro-USB port, you do not need a USB adapter. You may use a Micro-USB extension stub or cable if you want.
- If your device has a USB-C port, you need a USB on-the-go (OTG) adapter. See Adapters for Echo Meter Touch Modules for more information on finding a suitable adapter.
